Not even two weeks ago, Trump saluted the convicted Jan. 6 insurrectionists who attacked Capitol police. Now the fraudster and sexual assaulter is pretending to love the police and the law.
March 29, 2024

Donald Trump was invited to the wake of slain New York City Police Officer Jonathan Diller and, in typical Trump fashion, is milking it for all the dishonest posturing he can muster.

Even if you think Trump is innocent of every one of the 88 felony charges against him, including inciting the violence wrought against police officers on Jan. 6, 2021, he still should never be allowed to pretend he cares about law and order. After all, this is the guy who was found to have sexually abused E. Jean Carroll and was caught on video boasting about grabbing women by the pu**y. More recently, he was fined $464 for defrauding lenders in New York.

Oh, and there's the Trump University fraud case, his $2,000,000 charity fraud and the fact that so many of his cronies have wound up in jail or are currently facing criminal charges. That's not counting his suspicious takeover of the RNC or his even more suspicious adoration of Vladimir Putin.

Perhaps worse than all of that on the hypocrisy scale is Trump's salute of the January 6 insurrectionists. Calling Trump's adoration of them a “cornerstone” of his campaign, AP reported that at his March 17 rally, “Trump stood onstage, his hand raised in salute to the brim of his red MAGA hat, as a recorded chorus of prisoners in jail for their roles in the Jan. 6 attack sang the national anthem.” Trump called them “unbelievable patriots” when the recording ended and promised to help them his first day back in office.

Michael Daly, in a scathing Daily Beast column about Trump's phony-baloney law and order pose, pointed out, “As tallied by the U.S. Department of Justice, those arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 riot included “approximately 127 individuals who have been charged with using a deadly or dangerous weapon or causing serious bodily injury to an officer.”

In MSNBC's report, above, Trump is seen saying, “We have to get back to law and order.” But NBC News reporter Rehema Ellis noted that major crime is down both in major cities in the U.S. and in New York City.

Furthermore, instead of just tastefully showing up to offer his respect, prayers and condolences to the family of the tragically slain officer, Trump made sure to exploit the situation for his own benefit. Daly noted that Trump made an announcement to the media that he was attending the wake. He also posted on Truth Social, “To Officer Diller’s family, and all of the other brave men and women of law enforcement who put your lives on the line every day, we love you, we appreciate you, and we will always stand with you!”

Sure he does. Just so long as he thinks that stance benefits himself.
