Greene’s humiliation came just as Kristi Noem finally realized nobody admires her for killing her dog, Cricket, and slinked away. If only Marge would realize people are also sick of her obsessive need for attention and do the same.

From The New York Times report on Greene’s effort to oust Speaker Mike Johnson:

Lawmakers widely booed Ms. Greene as she called up the resolution and jeered several times as she read it aloud. As she recited the measure, a grievance-laden screed that lasted more than 10 minutes, Republicans lined up on the House floor to shake Mr. Johnson’s hand and pat him on the back.

Only 11 Republicans voted with Greene to move forward with a vote to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, The Times said. Sad!

On CNN, Jake Tapper made the obvious comparison: “That is the death of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s motion to vacate,” he said once it was officially dead. The motion is “essentially Kristi Noem taking a shotgun to Cricket’s head. It’s the death of that effort.”

Republican Congressman Mike Lawler, Tapper's guest, was no kinder. When Tapper asked why the heck Greene made the doomed motion when Johnson has been spending “hours and hours and hours” listening to her concerns and “obviously, they agree on a lot of issues,” Lawler replied, “Some people aren’t serious about governing and actually getting things done. They would rather just get attention for throwing temper tantrums and acting out.” As Lawler began both-sidesing, his connection was lost.

It's probably too much to hope that Greene will finally shut up or, even better, slink away like Noem, but watching her get booed by her own colleagues is not a bad consolation prize.
