I assume Mr. Will just picked the first Spanish name that came to his mind, I am trying to figure out if he did such a horrible analogy out of bigotry or sheer ignorance.
I'm going to say Will was erring on the side of bigotry, in a very white, patrician way. I think it's called soft racism up North. Maybe he could try some Gabriel Garcia Màrquez or something.
And I love Richard Lewis. I remember him doing stand-up, before the sit-com with Jamie Lee, and I've loved his political voice forever. He's exhausting and brilliant. A good man.

richard lewis was in no way inappropriate in anything he said.
john mccain and sarah palin and their supporters have been making malicious, untrue statements about barack obama. the only objection you could have for lewis' comparison of mccain to golum would be if you likewise object to ANY comparison of mccain or obama or any other public figure to any other person or situation, historical or fictional. unfortunately, that would bring discussion to a standstill. how do we evaluate people? based on what we know about others who have behaved similarly.
Olberman hit the nail on the head with this, McCain's vibe is very gollum-like. Creepy, not to be trusted. McCain has become a creature so obsessed with his goal he has transformed into a very unattractive creature. And people have noticed.
The hate-fest at the McCain/Palin rallies were no accident.

I agree with Chris. Hitchens. Personality is normally irrelevant and considered "ad hominem" in debate - UNLESS YOUR OPPONENT'S PERSONALITY IS IN FACT A SUBSTANTIVE ISSUE. In other words, McCain erratic behavior and inconsistent message does objectively become an issue, reflects on his temperament, stability, and judgment.
Wall Street pulls an October Surprise and cuts Obama's lead. Bush pretends he'll reform the banking system. McCain thinks John Lewis is unfair, since, as we all know, unlike McCain, he always had it easy. GM puts more employees on its hit list. The cooking standards in China must be pretty wretched, if you can't tell the difference between salt and rust remover...
They didn't say what the rust inhibitor was but I'd guess it was sodium nitrite which is used as a corrosion inhibitor and also to keep meat looking pretty and red in supermarkets. It also looks like salt and tastes like it too. Seeing what a high concentration does to a human aren't you glad your meat looks so nice.
those bikers, are on letterman now... think i saw a picture of them at a mcPalin rally recently...
speaking of which, sara silverman was on earlier and she told dave that it made her sad that mcPUTZ was going to be on the show becasue he hurt dave... she suggested that dave put him on 2nd, after the nanny or whoever... great idea...
i loved lewis' "wasila is a yeast infection" line... cracked me up.
So, FUX News thinks the following is an important question:
Is it legal for Larry Flynt to make a porn with a Sarah Palin lookalike?
That's right. They want to know whether it's legal.
Now, they conclude, after their inane discussion, that it is legal. Lamentably, I guess. But this video is just priceless. How many silly things do they say? From the guy who genuinely maintains that people might be confused that Sarah Palin actually played herself in the video to the First Amendment advocate's apparent inability to pronounce "Faux" or "Orally" (the latter is especially funny to me), there is enough in the clip to keep you laughing and afraid for days.
Thank you ever so much for that Karen. Do you suppose Colwin meant that an O'reilly look alike stars in the film and not Billo himself. I wouldn't be surprised either way.
Nice. Although I doubt it will change any mouth-breather's mind ("That there guy was one o' them 'intalexuals' so we ain't about to vote for no "Hussein Obama.")
and thought he was a decent guy. He responded to letters and emails. And though I didn't always agree with every vote he made, I know he was in a tough position as a Dem in a very Rethug district.
The financial crisis might end up creating more ballistic and suicidal people. Pelosi's willing to investigate some Dem in an affair, but not impeach Bush. Even if you stop taking Vioxx, the risk of a heart attack sticks with you for a year!
Asian stocks surged, with Japan's Nikkei up more than 13 percent on Tuesday after governments around the world readied plans to take stakes in banks to keep the global financial system from collapsing.

Yea they've been very helpful on a couple of issues. I've noticed that I get an edit button only when I reply to someone's post but not on any new post I make. I'll bother them later but for now I'll just be exposed as fallible.
Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo discusses 9/11 with We Are Change reporter Nathan Florence and admits "maybe I should give it more thought" when asked about a new investigation. Interesting exchange.
Nate from We Are Change RI: "Governor, do you support a new investigation into 9/11?"
Governor Cuomo: "You know it would be nice to have one because there are a lot of open questions, but I think before you do that, we have so many other things to devote our attention to. I wouldn't do it at this point. We don't need any new issues"
Nate: "You don't think so, because 70 percent of the victims' families questions were never answered by the Commission Report. (..yeah..) And Building 7 I'm sure you know about it.. (..yeah..) There were three buildings that fell that day. Building 7 is not even mentioned in the Commission..."
G.C.: "Yeah."
Nate: "How can we justify that?"
G.C.: "We can't."
Nate: "And how come nobody's been held accountable. And it's all our domestic and foreign policy."
G.C.: "Maybe I should give it more thought."
Nate: "Please do. Please do. The victims' families really need you to look into it."

I can empathize with Lewis. It's ADD. I suffer with it as well. It is hard to control by "just slowing down". Treatment with stimulants (Ritalin, methamphetamines, etc) helps somewhat, but of course, not without some consequences.
" Lewis, a Georgia representative and veteran of the civil rights movement, on Saturday compared the feeling at recent Republican rallies to those of segregationist George Wallace.
"That's not from some, quote, party official, that's from one of the most respected people in America. It's unfair. It's unfair and it's outrageous," he said in an exclusive interview with CNN's Dana Bash.
"I never believed that John Lewis, who is an American hero whom I admire, would ever make a comment of that nature. He even referred to the bombing of a church in Birmingham. That's unacceptable," he said. "
What do Johny's rednecked micro-brained supporters have to do? Lynch more people? The very worst element in this country has reared it's head from the muck and slime. I say we expose it to the light in hopes it will die a public death. Focus on the lynch mob mentality of McBush's rallies. Focus on their tacit support of these people as signs of their own bigotry.
This is a once in a lifetime chance to cripple or kill public bigotry in this country. It can only be done if the media shine the klieg lights on those who are supporting and exposing it.

"The truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al Qaida. And any informed intelligence officer knows this. But there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an identified entity... the country behind this propaganda is the U.S." -- Robin Cook - Former British Foreign Secretary
It was my understanding that the Afghan forces opposing the Soviet invasion in the early ‘80s trained from central locations they called Al Qaida (rough translation – the base). Various channels for supplies, money, weapons, etc. grew as links around the bases. That’s where they got the name, and it’s what they call themselves when working through those channels. They may not be formally structured, but I wouldn’t say they don’t exist. When we were supplying them in the 80’s against the USSR, I don’t know if we called them Al Qaida or not, but it’s the same organizational structure.
The Taliban is more structured for governance. They translate into “students” as in Muslim academia. Again, as I understand it, you can be a Talib and may or may not be working with Al Qaida and vice versa.

when it turns ugly, guess who get left holding the bag? Not the bushies!
beware republicans feigning recovery this early in the process. The economy is expected to slide until 2011 or 2012 at the least, and the housing market won't recover until mid 2013....
so much for a Resident McLAME or VEEP Palin..lol...
say hello to President Barack Obama and Vice-President Biden on November 4th 2008, vote the right-wingers out of power, once and for all!
Manwithoutaname: Don't worry. As long as Americans don't see any qualitative gains in their own lives in the next two weeks, McCain doesn't have the edge. And unless he can somehow emerge from his Penguin-like persona and demonstrate an understanding of the problems the middle and working-class face, he'll be the Republicans' Kerry.
People who use the argument, "They do it too..." loose their point right there! At that point, when they attempt to use egregious actions(unfounded or otherwise) to justify why they do what they do, are giving cause to become just as evil, despicable and egregious while attempting to legitimise it in the first place.
"But your Honor, other people murder, too!"

WHAT MAKES IT RIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Even if McNutz argument was correct...
... What makes inflammatory language and death threats acceptable enough to justify your team engaging in it?
You are not going to believe what happened to me on Saturday.
I was going to park in a strip mall in order to pick up my wife. A large black truck pulled in front of me to turn with a huge McCain/Palin yard sign attatched to it that said "real leadership, from real leaders." When I read that, I started cracking up laughing and shaking my head. I proceeded to park my van and call grandma at home (who was watching the kids) to see how things where going.
After a five minute phone call, I got out of my van and was putting my cell away when I heard someone yell "hey you." I looked up and it was the dude in the black truck. He points to his giant sign and growls at me "you got a problem with my sign?" Immediately I stopped and thought, I'm not taking any crap from this right wing moron. Our exchange went like this:
NoGWB: Anyone who would even consider voting for that guy (McCain) after the last eight years, has to have a screw loose.
Right wing idiot turns beat red and goes nuts!
Right wing moron: Oh yeah, why you driving that g** d*** piece of foreign sh blahblahblah (I have a new toyota van).
NoGWB: Funny you should bring that up. I have bought twelve Fords since 1991. But since ALL 7 of my brothers and brother-in-laws lost their jobs, I decided to get the better investment this time. If just one of the hadn't become unemployed under McCain and the republicans, I would have still bought another Ford.
RWM: Oh yeah, (literally spitting mad) well I hope you loose your job too!
NoGWB: Well, if that idiot McCain gets elected I probably will, along with everybody else who is lucky enough to still have a job. In case you haven't noticed, jobs disappear under republicans! I then told him he either wasn't very observant, or he just wasn't very bright, because its as obvious as night and day. Then I told him I hoped he would loose his job too!
RWN: (Jumps out of truck) Well I'm retired pal. I don't work anymore.
NoGWB: Well when the stock market - thanks to republicans - goes down to 3000 you won't be. You'll be working for $3.00 an hour too eat poison from china bought at Wal Mart; which is all your republican buddies think your worth!
RWM: Yeah! You no good commie, pinko, socialist (some unintelligible bullshit), etc.........
NoGWB; In case you haven't noticed, the pinko's are on Wall Street getting their socialist hands all over the communist government run by your republican pinko socialist commie pal's. You are an idiot, and incredibly boring! (I then walked into the store as he swore some more).
When I got inside I noticed he was still behind my van. I thought he might slash the tires. It looked like he was taking my liscense plate number. After about 30 seconds I walked back outside to see what the idiot was doing. He took off finally.

speaking of which, sara silverman was on earlier and she told dave that it made her sad that mcPUTZ was going to be on the show becasue he hurt dave... she suggested that dave put him on 2nd, after the nanny or whoever... great idea...
i loved lewis' "wasila is a yeast infection" line... cracked me up.
So, FUX News thinks the following is an important question:
That's right. They want to know whether it's legal.
Now, they conclude, after their inane discussion, that it is legal. Lamentably, I guess. But this video is just priceless. How many silly things do they say? From the guy who genuinely maintains that people might be confused that Sarah Palin actually played herself in the video to the First Amendment advocate's apparent inability to pronounce "Faux" or "Orally" (the latter is especially funny to me), there is enough in the clip to keep you laughing and afraid for days.
Barely. :)
Thank you ever so much for that Karen. Do you suppose Colwin meant that an O'reilly look alike stars in the film and not Billo himself. I wouldn't be surprised either way.
Where can I order 20 copies?? Great stocking stuffer.
I see she had a little trouble with that pesky French (faux) and pronunciation of "Orally".
In 2006, John McCain was ACORN's keynote speaker.
You can't really expect him to remember that. After all he can't remember what he said last week.
Ya know, this shit just writes itself.....
Just watch it, you'll love the ending, I swear.

WOOT! :)
Nice. Although I doubt it will change any mouth-breather's mind ("That there guy was one o' them 'intalexuals' so we ain't about to vote for no "Hussein Obama.")
But I thought it was pretty funny.
It was definitely more for us .
Brilliant!

what an absolute ahole
and if anyone in congress knew about what was going on and helped him cover up...they should be gone too
Absolutely, Uncle Joe!
He qualifies as a crook and a liar. Goodbye congressman.
and thought he was a decent guy. He responded to letters and emails. And though I didn't always agree with every vote he made, I know he was in a tough position as a Dem in a very Rethug district.
This new development, however, is not good...
Hey, John, I REALLY like the edit option, seeing as I am a typo machine!
There is also a little box on the same line as "Post New Comment" (to the right) that lets you change the format.
The financial crisis might end up creating more ballistic and suicidal people. Pelosi's willing to investigate some Dem in an affair, but not impeach Bush. Even if you stop taking Vioxx, the risk of a heart attack sticks with you for a year!
Barbara Boxer seems to think there will be investigations after January for the sake of the Country.
Asian stocks surged, with Japan's Nikkei up more than 13 percent on Tuesday after governments around the world readied plans to take stakes in banks to keep the global financial system from collapsing.
You know x I can't figure out why I get an edit button or a flag as inappropriate button but never both. Every time I make a mistake on a post and want to correct it there's no edit button. A very strange Karma is in play.
I am a total neophyte about these issues, but I will swear by the site monitors to get your problems solved. They helped me when I was thoroughly frustrated after the adoption of this new format.
Yea they've been very helpful on a couple of issues. I've noticed that I get an edit button only when I reply to someone's post but not on any new post I make. I'll bother them later but for now I'll just be exposed as fallible.
GNA! Got some important stuff to do in the morning.
Good night Ron. I'm glad to see you've gone legit.
Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo discusses 9/11 with We Are Change reporter Nathan Florence and admits "maybe I should give it more thought" when asked about a new investigation. Interesting exchange.
Full Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCa3H2A0lsY
Rough Transcript:

Bush just signed it. Some specifics of the law.
Interesting.
People react to fear, not love--they don't teach that in Sunday School, but it's true.

beware republicans feigning recovery this early in the process. The economy is expected to slide until 2011 or 2012 at the least, and the housing market won't recover until mid 2013....

Manwithoutaname: Don't worry. As long as Americans don't see any qualitative gains in their own lives in the next two weeks, McCain doesn't have the edge. And unless he can somehow emerge from his Penguin-like persona and demonstrate an understanding of the problems the middle and working-class face, he'll be the Republicans' Kerry.
miraculously they are falling rapidly just before the election...
you can hear the Republican screams and shouts of "you have never had it so good!"

Q U E S T I O N:
WHAT MAKES IT RIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Even if McNutz argument was correct...
... What makes inflammatory language and death threats acceptable enough to justify your team engaging in it?

Danger danger, warning warning.......
He took off finally.
i told my wife, "if some NRA n
