Yes, Obama is ahead in the polls but, we all know that we can't let up. The electronic voting machines and scanners have been in force for too many past elections and contributed to the elections being stolen. There is also voter caging and purging of voters off the rolls. Let's make sure that everyone gets to vote and their vote is counted as they voted.

I hope they are not doing worse than Las Vegas. Largest foreclosure rate in the nation because it had the largest housing bubble in the nation. Casinos are being hit hard because gas is too expensive and the unemployment rate is high.

My sister was inches close to leaving her teaching job in Maryland to move out there to teach when the bottom fell out. Luckily for her, there was some sort of delay that allowed her to stay in MD.

I'm from Ft. Worth, and have been trying to educate people on the truth about this election, while trying (mostly in vain) to debunk some of the worst myths about Sen. Obama. I hope, in time, as the younger generation starts to vote, Texas will become more tolerant and not so bigoted.

My husband and I were so proud of Rachel, we were cheering out loud after she nailed Frum to the wall. I know his heart is in the right place but Richard Lewis could be the poster child for ADD. The odd thing is that if you listen to him long enough you start to fill in the gaps and he starts to make sense. It just takes patience.

Lewis couldn't get five words out of his mouth before he'd change the subject. I made it half way thru the video and had to give up because, for all the words tumbling out of his mouth, he hadn't come up with one coherent thought yet. I'm afraid I didn't have the patience.

When he switches from one topic to another without providing a cogent argument for his views or explaining them fully, he sounds dumb. Sure, there are some funny one liners or zingers, but the message gets lost.
He also sound like a Lefty version of all those McCain rallies where they simply spout out phrases without a bit of support (not nearly as hateful, of course). We understand what he's getting at since we're better informed. But a "low information voter" would think he's just doing the Left's version of a diatribe without any support.

john mccain and sarah palin and their supporters have been making malicious, untrue statements about barack obama. the only objection you could have for lewis' comparison of mccain to golum would be if you likewise object to ANY comparison of mccain or obama or any other public figure to any other person or situation, historical or fictional. unfortunately, that would bring discussion to a standstill. how do we evaluate people? based on what we know about others who have behaved similarly.

I agree with Chris. Hitchens. Personality is normally irrelevant and considered "ad hominem" in debate - UNLESS YOUR OPPONENT'S PERSONALITY IS IN FACT A SUBSTANTIVE ISSUE. They didn't say what the rust inhibitor was but I'd guess it was sodium nitrite which is used as a corrosion inhibitor and also to keep meat looking pretty and red in supermarkets. It was my understanding that the Afghan forces opposing the Soviet invasion in the early ‘80s trained from central locations they called Al Qaida (rough translation – the base). Various channels for supplies, money, weapons, etc. grew as links around the bases. That’s where they got the name, and it’s what they call themselves when working through those channels. They may not be formally structured, but I wouldn’t say they don’t exist. When we were supplying them in the 80’s against the USSR, I don’t know if we called them Al Qaida or not, but it’s the same organizational structure.
The Taliban is more structured for governance. They translate into “students” as in Muslim academia. Again, as I understand it, you can be a Talib and may or may not be working with Al Qaida and vice versa.

People who use the argument, "They do it too..." loose their point right there! You are not going to believe what happened to me on Saturday.
I was going to park in a strip mall in order to pick up my wife. A large black truck pulled in front of me to turn with a huge McCain/Palin yard sign attatched to it that said "real leadership, from real leaders." When I read that, I started cracking up laughing and shaking my head. I proceeded to park my van and call grandma at home (who was watching the kids) to see how things where going.
After a five minute phone call, I got out of my van and was putting my cell away when I heard someone yell "hey you." I looked up and it was the dude in the black truck. He points to his giant sign and growls at me "you got a problem with my sign?" Immediately I stopped and thought, I'm not taking any crap from this right wing moron. Our exchange went like this:
