Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems on Tuesday reached a settlement, much to the chagrin of people who wanted to see justice after the network broadcast false allegations that the 2020 presidential election had been "stolen" from former President Donald Trump. Dominion sought $1.6 billion in damages, but their attorneys announced that they had settled for $787.5 million.

Fox News issued a statement that will make you all throat-punchy.

"We are pleased to have reached a settlement of our dispute with Dominion Voting Systems," Fox News officials said in a statement after the agreement had been reached. "We acknowledge the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false."

"This settlement reflects Fox’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards,” the network said. “We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues.”

Smartmatic, a separate voting machine company, is suing Fox News for $2.7 billion over 2020 election claims, too. And they want Fox News to know that they will finish what Dominion started.

Smartmatic lawyer Erik Connolly said, “Dominion’s litigation exposed some of the misconduct and damage caused by Fox’s disinformation campaign. Smartmatic will expose the rest."

"Smartmatic remains committed to clearing its name, recouping the significant damage done to the company, and holding Fox accountable for undermining democracy," he added.

Give them hell.
