Michael Moore VS Wolf Blitzer - Round II

John posted part one of Michael Moore’s interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer yesterday and there has been a lot of buzz around both the interview and Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s “reality check” which aired just before the interview, setting Moore off. CNN aired the second half of the interview today. While the second half of the interview was a bit more subdued, Moore was still passionate in making his points. Blitzer throws out some criticisms and Moore slaps them all down, even claiming that an Iranian news agency is reporting that Moore is going to be traveling to Iran to show his new film. Of course, Moore laughs it off and asks if Fox News was really behind that story. At the end of the interview Moore thanks Wolfie for telling him he liked the movie during the break.

Don’t forget… Moore is taking Gupta on on Larry King tonight.

Moore was great with Blitzer yesterday. You could tell he was really pissed, but he remained articulate. It would never happen but I’d love to see Moore allowed two minutes to interview Bush. That would be awesome, and long overdue.

No way would such an interview be allowed…having an intelligent individual who is articulant
(being MM of course) ask questions of an idiot who can handle only pop-up books..and
they must also have pictures.

This needs to happen a lot more (or a lot Moore!!)

That was great at the end when Moore thanked Wolf for telling him he really liked Mike’s film when they were on break.

i like how they linked moore and hillary…did you see it? this equals this!! now which one was worse for the linkage? lol!!!

Doggiebobo Says:

Off topic, but Michael Scare-e-Noff of Homeland Security is now starting
another rumor of a “possible” terriorist attack here in U.S. sometime, maybe,
this Summer. That S.O.B. is again, at instruction of bush I’m sure, beginning
to use “fear/scare” tactics, so expect the color coded alert system to be
raised in near future.

Tell Gupta, that when we get our Socialized healthcare system, he will have to decide if he wants to be a Doctor or a Journalist. Oh yeah, and he will be getting a substantial redution in Doctor pay.

Gupta the paid tool. Let’s see if both he and bullShitzer apologize….anyone believe that they will?…anyone…….no one?…

Michael Moore for President!

Gupta has attended the “bush-league” school of never having made an error or mistake,
so the likelihood of an apology is about as likely to happen as bush telling the truth.

Kurt Says:

A little OT but why do we have Santorum and now Chertoff publicly stating that they have a “gut” feeling, not based on any intelligence, that our country will be attacked by the terrorists big time in the coming months?

Why is the director using his gut as the filter for threats to our national security? Is this how far we’ve come with improving our intelligence?

Our country is run by gutless guts.

14
Anderson Blooper Says:

Wolf Blitzer’s hit piece against Michael Moore was screwed up by incompetent, money grubbing, Dr.Gupta. (Just kepping them Honest).

Same intelligence/gut feelings that Rove,Cheney, bush had as to Iraq having WMD.
Scare-ne-nuff is of the same mold and like the entire bush team, is a deplorable
example of a human being.

I’m glad Moore calmed down. When he stays on-topic, he’s excellent.

Larry King Says:

Don’t worry, I’ll throw softball questions at Gupta all night for ya Wolf. It’ll be taped so we can edit anything that might damage the Company. Also, tell Wolf’s Israeli handlers not to worry, I’ve got it under control.

Ozymandias Says:

Wolf is simply a horrible interviewer. He talks slowly, he wastes time going “uh…umm..” when he should be allowing the interviewee to speak. He’s awful.

20
Captain Kangaroo Says:

You have to give CNN some credit for putting it up there. It’s too bad that they were shamed into doing it. Let’s see if things get better at CNN.

hanshiro Says:

bullShitzer begins his framing with Cuba and illegal travel (booga, booga) and then IRAN????? (BOOGA BOOGA!!)

PLEASE!

Is this ‘guilt’ and accusation by association by the Pharma-paid mainstream Media bootlicks or what?

No wonder the telecoms want to stem or access to real information by sinking Net Neutrality…

Bison Says: That was great at the end when Moore thanked Wolf for telling him he really liked Mike’s film when they were on break.

Hilarious! bullShitzer didn’t expect that, I’ll bet, and since he agreed to unedited broadcast, his muted agreement said it all..

Agreed…he is at his best when covering “Shock and Awe” and does not have to
talk to anyone…so my suggestion to CNN is: Send Wolfie to Baghad and let him
stay there for at least 30 or more days covering the “successful” Surge underway.

anonymousryan Says:

I was struck by the stark contrast between Blitzer and Moore’s method of questioning. Moore strikes directly at the issue and isn’t afraid to confront falsehoods with facts. Blitzer questions almost meekly, trying not to offend and backing away from confrontation. It’s obviously the problem with journalistic media today, they lack spines. The only ones who seem to have them are blowhards like O’Reilly and the other Fox News sycophants.

I also like the way Moore replied on his website with researched facts. News organizations should incorporate this more thoroughly in their interviews, especially fact checking statements made by politicians, pundits, etc. on subjects which they are not authorities. It would be great and perhaps, dare I say, actual journalism.

Smack_dab Says:

It’s amazing how if you just scratch at the veneer of CNN and the other supposed non-partisan news outlets, the underlying right-wing bias is so apparent. They are all working for the destruction of this nation (some more than others) for their thirty pieces of silver. Amazing how many Americans will sell out their own country for a paycheck. I guess it’s like what is said about how no single snowflake thinks it is the cause of the avalanche; they all pretend like it’s someone else doing the really bad things, that their little evil isn’t doing any real harm.

I felt that since Moore responded that he went to Cuba as journalist that he would have told Wolf, that he could go there to if he became a journalist.

35
vernonlee Says:

How interesting.

It looked like Blitzer just folded like a cheap suit. In this segment, gone were all the phony-baloney questions and it seemed like in Part II, Blitzer was trying to act like he’d been concerned about this issue all along.

Imagine what it must have been like to be Blitzer - after saying he’d covered the Clinton health care debate in 1993, and casting back and coming up empty when trying to think about stories about the vast lake of human misery Michael Moore just tipped his toe into.

Let’s hope he felt a tinge of shame that CNN clearly hadn’t captured the anger and despair in the country over this issue. (And their oldster demos are sure as hell going to notice.)

My guess is that Blitzer might have guessed that his audience was going to be able to tell who was on their side - telling them the truth and bringing issues to the fore - and it wasn’t Blitzer. Hence Blitzer’s scurrying over to Michael Moore’s side.

Moore could have bit a teensy more gracious but did soften his tone just a bit when he realized that he’d beaten back the attack dog.

If you are serious, go to Yahoo News and the second news article

Ah, yes. Chertoff has an “intuitive sense” that Al Quaeda will attack this summer. It begins.

As regards the Blitzer interview; I’m happy to see that Blitzer gave Moore time to speak, and I thought it was interesting that Moore said, “And thanks for telling me backstage that you liked the movie”. That’s right, Moore, call these cowards out and let them face their corporate sponsors, lol.
Also happy to see that Sanjay Gupta retracted his “mistake” about how much Cuba spends on health care and agreed to meet with Moore on Larry King Live tonight. I’m betting that he caught so much flack for his lame “reality check” that he has some serious back-stepping to do in order to retrieve whatever credibility he has left.

SteveK Says:

Pretty impressive… Michael got much, much more out of his “I’m not gonna take it” moment yesterday than I expected.

Could it be that Michael’s in their face tirade woke one of the sleeping giants? One can only hope…

Write CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC tell them what you think… what you want (& while you’re at it… tell FOX to piss off.)

Yeah, I wanna see the Bush (Mis)Administration try to prosecute some 9/11 rescue workers for seeking treatment in another country. After commuting scooter Libby’s sentence, that should send Chimpy’s approval ratings right down to single digits overnight.

Loved Moore’s comments about FDR defeating the Nazis & Mussolini in less time than it’s taken the Great Idiot to take a stretch of road in Iraq!

What is Blitzer’s preoccupation with Rudy G? Disgusting. Yes, Guliani has a different idea about health care, he wants to perpetuate the failed system we have right now.

So if Wolfie was the WH correspondent that covered Hil, what is he doing being a shill for the neoCons on CNN?

When they start this stuff, I find it rather scary. They have to do something to herd Americans into the Bush Dictatorship, maybe that’s the plan? Better refugee North.

KaT, I thought Moore’s comment about FDR was a brilliant way to put Bush’s War in perspective. If that didn’t drive home, clearly, what a total failure Bush’s invasion of Iraq has been, nothing will.

Oh, and during the interview (here, anyway) a public service clip was run in which patients were encouraged to “get more involved in their heath care.” There was a little musical vignette of a doctor saying to a patient, “We’re not magicians, we can’t read your mind” as a way to encourage the patient to ask questions. Another was one in which a patient was lying back on an operating table, surrounded by various medical machines, and the nurses were singing, “What are these procedures, what are these machines?” (Or something like that.) The whole thing was all about how the entire medical establishment is here to serve you, but -damn ye!-you’re all too dumb to use this expertise and goodwill intelligently. This ran DURING THE INTERVIEW. And Bush is out there today, telling us that our health care failings are all our fault. It’s always interesting to watch these talking points as they arise isn’t it? As if we don’t all see it by now.

A good friend of mine was born in Eastern Europe and grew up under soviet communism.

We were drinking over the weekend and I mentioned to him that “pretty soon” all of our rights would be gone.
He laughed his amiably derisive, deep laugh and said with a big smile, “Hah, they are gone ALREADY…HA HA.”

I knew it already, but I have a hard time saying it.

George Bush Says:

You know guys it doesn’t matter what you bunch of nerds talk about. Why? Because nothing is going to change on my watch (inanae snigger inserted here) I have terrifired the people so much that they will do whatever I tell them too. Let Libby out, what yer going to do about it lefties? That’s right nothing, and why? Because in truth this isn’t a democracy, that’s why. I own you tree hugging bitches, and you know it.
So I am going to continue my war, continue supporting the private medical companies, and support the wonderful Republican health system based on profit, not care.
And what will you do? Nothing! Maybe rally behind Michael Moore becuase he is the only American with guts, the rest of you hide in his shadows, letting him take the fall for your lack of action. Come on, grow a set, make this a democracy again. I dare you, get off your lazy arse and make a difference, if not. Then just shut up, and do exaclty what I command.
Just like you and CNN and have done for the last 6-years.

What appalls me is how much credibility the MSM gives to these idiots’ “gut feelings”. Hey, I have a gut feeling twice a week that I’m going to hit the lottery, but of course, I never do. Gut feelings are not a substitute for substantive intelligence. “Gut feelings” don’t amount to shit; why no one in the media points this out is a complete mystery to me.
