that was great. I was laughing into my Lunch.

Obama needs to do an entire speech about the negative effect MSM has had on elections and about the responsibility the have to their country instead of special interest groups and corporations they pander to.

The MSM has trumped journalism for far, far reich-wing partisanship.

White House defends NAFTA: 'There's nothing broken'

WASHINGTON - The White House on Friday vigorously defended the 14-year-old free-trade agreement among the United States, Mexico and Canada against sharp criticism from Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

Well of course there's nothing broken. If your one of the few billionaires benefiting from cheap labor and job exportation.

10 Debate Questions John McCain Will Never Be Asked:
1. Do you agree with Pastor John Hagee that war with Iran is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy?
2. Doesn't your legendary temper make you too dangerous to be trusted with the presidency of the United States?
3. Doesn't your confusion regarding basic facts about the war in Iraq, including repeatedly citing a nonexistent Al Qaeda-Iran alliance, make you unfit for command?
4. Given your past adultery, should Americans consider you a moral exemplar of family values?
5. Doesn't your flip-flop on Jerry Falwell being an "agent of intolerance" show your opportunistic pandering to the religious right?
6. Given your wealth and privileged upbringing, aren't you - and not Barack Obama - the elitist?
7. What is your religion, really? And has the answer in the past changed as the South Carolina primary approached?
8. Didn't President Bush betray you with his signing statement on the Detainee Treatment Act? You claim to be against torture, but aren't you a hypocrite for voting "no" on the Senate waterboaring ban?
9. Why did you flip-flop on the Bush tax cuts you twice opposed? Why do you now support making them permanent for the wealthiest Americans who need them least?
10. With the economy tanking, shouldn't Americans be concerned over your past statements that "the issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should?"

Great post. Thank you.

All things Stephen?

Uhhh lets stay focused on the issues that really matter now.

LOL oh man how we going to win in Nov?

Good luck.

WOW !!!

'Distractions' trump Jane Fonda, the black hole in the center of the Galaxy, The Weather Channel and even BEARS ! He IS serious !

Kinda reminds me of when Gary Hart dared the media to investigate him to see if he had an affair with Donna Rice.

hilarious.

True, but considering how petty and simple these people are, and how much power they have in this election cycle, it would be extremely dangerous.

I've been feeling better lately that their crap hasn't affected the polls as much as I expected, and even the bobbleheads seem suprised that their attacks have muted effects (thus turning to calling Obama "Teflon".

The sad thing is that we pay these people, huge amounts, through our consumerism to hijack our Democratic process.

Oh that was great. That really made my day. Thanks stephen Colbert for saving civilisation!

I'm a Obama supporter and I say give him the tough questions....as many as can be conjured. If he can't properly handle legitimate questions that concern Americans he doesn't deserve to be President. I don't care if Hillary doesn't answer one question(she'll just lie anyway). Those questions from the Gib&Step minstrel show was a creepy disgrace.

I don't think anyone is upset about Obama having to handle tough questions. Indeed, we're pissed because he WASN'T given tough questions. How is he going to handle: War on Terror, Iraq, Afghanistan, Housing Crisis, Recession, Health Care, Social Security, Education, etc. THOSE are the legitimate, tough questions that concern Americans. Flag pins, Rev. Wright, who loves America more, Bitter vs. Angry, and who he served with on the board of some charity with are NOT.

He introduced 233 bills regarding healthcare reform,
125 bills on poverty and public assistance,
112 bills on crime fighting,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,

I don't like to throw petty around, because it's a pretty damning accusation. My post earlier uses it correctly, per the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:

Main Entry: pet·ty
1 : having secondary rank or importance : minor, subordinate
2 : having little or no importance or significance
3 : marked by or reflective of narrow interests and sympathies

I love it when some under educated fearmonger wannabe shows up unarmed and bluffing because it gives me a chance to copy and past a few of my favorite things...

During Senator Obama’s first 8 eight months of elected service he sponsored over 820 bills.

He introduced 233 bills regarding healthcare reform,
125 bills on poverty and public assistance,
112 bills on crime fighting,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.
In his first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included:
(1)the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 that became LAW,
(2)The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act that became LAW, (3)The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act that passed the Senate,
(4)The 2007 Government Ethics Bill that became LAW,
(5)The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill that is in committee just to name a few.

In all since he entered the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term, which is 6 years and another year campaigning, has authored and passed 20 twenty pieces of legislation in her term of six years into law. These bills can be found at (wwwhomas.loc.gov). Senator Clinton has passed.

(1) Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
(2) Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
(3) Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
(4) Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
(5) Name courthouse after James L. Watson.

I'm very interested. Is Obama the most qualified person in America to be President? Of course not in my opinion. I'll take Al Gore, Dennis Kucinich or Wesley Clark over him any day of the week.

But against Hillary or McCain, in terms of actual experience, they are all fairly equal. In terms of their policies, Obama and Hillary are basically the same and Obama and McCain are VERY different when it comes to the issues that matter to me.

So please, tell me how he is unqualified when matched up against Clinton or McCain. And if possible, please tell me without using Reverend Wright or Rezko or Ayers because I actually use both sides of my brain so I can distinguish between Obama and his associates.

First, Gore-had a chance, blew it, more of Clinton, Denny K way way to left, Clark - had a chance blew.... Obama have never governed anything, made a budget, lead troops into battle, gone head to head vs. some no shit world leaders, Putin, Jintao, Iran guy..

i am blown away.

Sure. Please explain to me how Barack Obama is less-qualified to be President than Hillary or McCain? I'm very interested in your answer.

1. Experience
2. I have not heard alot of details out of him about, getting out of Iraq, balancing the budget, fixing education, I don't wont the standard answer (increase government and throw money at the problem) that, as we all know, does not work!

[emphasis added]

Well, gee, chris, McCain's supported a war effort that ships palates of US currency, by the millions of dollars, to buy new friends.

How's that working out?

Fixed.

I figured that's the best you had which is why I dared you to respond.

NEWS FLASH: Clinton, McCain and Obama collectively have ZERO YEARS of executive experience. None of them have ever operated or managed a large or small business. None of them has ever held office in a executive position on the city, county, state or federal level. The largest thing any of them have run to date has been their respective political campaigns. If how they run their campaigns is reflective of how they will run the country, then Obama blows both of them away.

John McCain was a Captain in the Air Force. Captains in the Air Force don't lead troops into battle. Where in his military record has a military battle was won or lost under John McCain's command?

John McCain, like EVERY MEMBER OF CONGRESS, has never went head-to-head with a world leader because that's not they're job. They're primary job is to vote yes, no or abstain. That's why a Senator from either party hasn't been elected in almost 40 years, because when you look at their actual Senate experience, their actual roles and responsibilities are pretty lame and doesn't qualify them to be CEO of the United States.

The biggest initiative McCain has launched as a Senator was the McCain-Feingold bill which has completely failed because of the 527 loophole. None of the Senators have ever launched anything remotely resembling the Truman Committee and they definitely did not achieve that Committee's results.

So like I said before. Trying to say Obama is less qualified that Clinton and McCain based on experience is a DOA argument with those who are distracted by political distractions.

StevePam @ 2:

Obama needs to do an entire speech about the negative effect MSM has had on elections and about the responsibility the have to their country instead of special interest groups and corporations they pander to.

I used it correctly, teacher...well maybe not...I should have said petty bullshit.

Damn, can y'all cut that long post down or used poster numbers?

BTW -- I do agree with most on that long post. :)

Top 10 Un-asked questions from the debate:

1. Boxers or briefs? Hillary, you must choose.
2. Mr. Obama, when you were a coke-dealing liberal elite youth, just how many flags did you burn while attending your America-hating Madras?
3. Many Americans think you were sworn into office using a Koran and that you detest america so much that you secretly chant, "Death to Imperialist Swine" during the pledge of allegiance. Why do these rumors persist?
4. Mr. Obama, your name rhymes with Osama and your middle name is Hussein. Why do you hate America so much?
5. It's a well-known fact that every American president has worn a u.s. flag lapel pen. George Washington whittled his own out of a cherry tree branch. Abraham Lincoln fashioned one out of Mary Todd's tears. Why do you insist on being such a pinko?
6. Why do you hate Mickey Mouse?
7. Mrs. Clinton, As an America-hating lesbian, how do you decide which pant-suit to wear in the morning?
8. Millions of Americans lack sufficient health care, unemployment claims are at a ten-year high, the Iraq war seems to have no end and the sub-prime mortgage crisis is wreaking havoc on the banking system, so could you comment on the fact that you have rather large ears?
9. You were born on August 4th, 1961. Hitler died on April 30th, 1945. Is this merely an odd coincidence?
10. How many Christian babies did you eat for breakfast?

chris you don't want a debate as you have claimed day after day, night after night. Besides you can't comprehend plain English.
You are a old troll.

McCain was a Captain in the Navy. That rank in that branch of the service equates to Colonel in other branches of the service.

Running a campaign and running a country are two different things, McCain and to some extent Clinton have been around long enough to know about realpolitik, Obama has a very idealist view of the world. The other two know how ruthless it is out there and we have to be as equally as tough. Obama has no idea whats in store for him with the debates much less been the leader of the free world. Hope and change are not policies.....

Experience?

In comparison to George W. Bush, Obama has a lot more experience.

Hillary may have a little more experience, but she tires easily and forgets the big details. So, we're not really sure as to what her experience may be.

McCain may have been in Washington the longest, but he doesn't seem to have the clout that would allow him to "reach across the aisle". All the experience the world doesn't mean squat if you can't put it into play.

I'm curious as to what the standard of experience would be for you, chris? My thinking is that you wouldn't accept any level of experience from Obama, so it would be an exercise into futility to try to prove it to you otherwise.

As to his plans that you haven't heard... go do your own freaking research. We all can't hold your hand.

My bad. I read it wrong, and thought you were objecting to C&L'ers calling the bobbleheads "petty".

We should put them on the ballot, where, they get airtime according to percentage of popular vote. Maybe Charlie Rose could preside over the whole lot of them.
